The Warning Signals of Democratic Failure
Ever articulate Dr. Reuben Abati, this morning in The Guardian came out vociferously to sound the alarm of democratic danger with each of his five fingers pointing to the 5 dangers that threatens democracy as we approach 2007 elections. He described governance as "...failure of the past seven years". Saying "...Our failure...to use democracy as a platform for correcting the fault lines of Nigerian history, and the many lies that bind us together." He concluded that "...the year 2007 will be Nigeria's rendezvous with history. It may well be the year when the country and its people will pay a price (the exact nature of which we may not yet know)..."
